ITEM REVIEW

The Dungeons & Dragons Starter Set was a boxed roleplaying game set that was manufactured by TSR and came into existence in 1977.

Background

The 1977 Basic Set represented a significant evolution in the realm of tabletop roleplaying games, having come into being from the original Dungeons & Dragons framework that was developed by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. J. Eric Holmes was assigned the responsibility of creating a version of the game that would be more accessible, which in turn would serve as a welcoming entry point for new players who found the original ruleset to be quite intimidating, thus allowing them to delve into the world of roleplaying games with greater ease and enjoyment.
